At CTS we always keep up to date with new guidance becoming available and updated.
The new BS7592-2022 was realeased in March 2022. Since then we have been studying all the changes necessary to keep all our clients up to date.
90% of our clients manage their legionella compliance using the tried and tested method of temperature control. Hot water stored at 60 degrees and delivered at no less that 50 to the outlets within one minute, and cold water throughout the system at below 20 degrees within two minutes. This is nothing news.
In accordance with HSg274 part 2 Legionella testing (analysis) was only really ever required if there was a consistent failure in the temperature control. Now with this new guidance legionella testing is required routinely to ensure the control measures are actually effective.
At CTS we carry out thousands of legionella samples per year and can give professional advice if legionella is detected and what approach to take next. This does not dimply mean disinfecting outlets and systems until the legionella appears to be gone. It is an individual approach to each positive identification of the bacteria.
